Ontario, New York is my home. After earning a bachelors degree in Cytotechnology from Upstate Medical in Syracuse,  I still wanted to create art and earned a bachelors in Art from Empire State College in 2004. My art is very much influenced by my work. I love to depict the world I see in my microscope.

The heart is a grouping of cells I found on a slide one day.

About my art

My artwork is mostly in watercolor, ink, oils and collage. Sometimes I will do the same subject in several different media. I like to experiment. The different media give it a different feel. Sometimes I like several versions. I also play with gelli prints and use the prints in my collage. I like to use different materials to get the texture, colors and feel I want.

Here is a self portrait of me during covid and working at Rochester General Hospital. It is mixed media using papers for texture, ink, watercolor and acrylic paint. I was dressed to go to the operating room for a procedure. Had on scrubs, N95 mask with surgical mask over it and hair covering. It was definitely a different time and we all have stories.

The second image is a self portrait of me when I turned 40 and all the different things in my life. The first is my job looking at cells, second of art that I love and create, my peaceful place, third is my travels and the last is me and all the different roles and names in my life as wife, mother, sister, friend etc.

Over the years I have been in many organizations that have helped me develop as an artist. I was in the Irondequoit Art club for many years, The NY figure study guild, attended many open figure drawing sessions. I also attended Arrowmont in Tennessee for a workshop. I have met other great artists that love being creative and showing their work. Recently I have been teaching beginning watercolor class at the Breadbox Art Studio in Williamson, NY. Art can be very therapeutic. Can be meditative, relaxing, give a sense of purpose and gets people together.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work. Feel free to contact me with questions or comments.

There is also a link to my etsy shop if you would like to purchase a piece of art.
